Chief Administrative Officer
Heather has spent her career in several industries discovering ways to keep Operations from getting bogged down with administrative tasks required of every business. Regardless of the industry, Heather takes every opportunity to learn the business by spending time in the field. With 14 years in the healthcare IT industry under her belt, Heather is our go-to when it comes to supporting our leaders in reaching their highest potential. Melding her skills of people management, client delivery, and leadership development, Heather is our on-the-ground executive leader for projects. Heather’s responsibilities at medSR include the oversight of finance and accounting, payroll, human resources, IT, marketing, and legal. She is an expert at removing barriers and doing whatever it takes to get every job done, allowing our team members to focus on what they do best.
Using her Master’s degree in Organizational and Industrial Psychology, Heather spends her off time trying to keep her sanity while raising two teenage boys. In addition, she is working on her lifetime goal of visiting every continent and has only two more to go!
Chief Operating Officer
Dwight Garvin brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience to the team and is exceptionally well versed in project management, ambulatory EHR implementation, acute care systems implementation, revenue cycle, budgeting, and strategic planning, business development, PMO development, and change management.
Prior to his current role with medSR, Dwight served as Senior Vice President of Professional Services for CareCloud as well manager in strategy and operations for Deloitte Consulting and the Executive Director of Ambulatory Solutions at Baptist Health Systems in Birmingham, Alabama.
As Controller, Cindy is responsible for overseeing daily accounting activities, performing financial analysis, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
Cindy has over 26 years of experience in accounting. She joined Santa Rosa as Accounting Manager in 2019 and was appointed Controller when medSR was formed. Prior to joining Santa Rosa, Cindy was the Controller for The Jones Company after holding the position of Assistant Controller at Southern Land Company.
Cindy holds a Bachelor of Administration from Cumberland University. In her spare time, Cindy loves to read and spend time with her husband and children on their houseboat. She resides in Franklin, TN with her husband, Greg. They have a daughter, Hayley, and a son, Gregory.
Vice President, MEDITECH
With over 35 years of healthcare IT experience, Carl has held a number of leadership positions for various consulting companies. He has been with medSR for two years and is the MEDITECH Practice Operations
Executive. Carl started his career in physical therapy and after finishing business school at the University of Texas (Hook’em Horns) has gained experience in sales, service delivery, and operations management for First Consulting Group (FCG), Cap Gemini, Ernest and Young, CSC, and CTG. Carl also enjoys traveling, building high performing teams, and taking care of his six cats and two dogs. He lives with his wife, an attorney, in Texas.
Practice Leader, MEDITECH
With 30 years of hands-on experience, Mike has the reputation for providing clients with superior resources and exceptional value. We are a recognized leader in MEDITECH early adopter implementations, and with Mike’s expertise, we have engaged over 80 successful MEDITECH conversions and implementations including all MEDITECH platforms with full implementation support as well as providing project management, SMEs, IT staffing and interim leadership.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina and an MBA from Tennessee Tech University. Prior to entering the dark world of consulting Mike served as the IT Director and CIO for multiple community hospital systems and brings that practical, CIO view when dealing with clients today regarding their consulting needs.
Managed Services and Epic Practice Director
Greg is in charge of implementing technology to improve operations in both client organizations and for medSR. Greg Smith is Chief Innovation Officer of Managed Services and Epic Practice Director and has over 20 years of experience in the electronic health record (EHR) field. Greg supports our clients in their Epic EHR strategies, project initiation, project implementations, and optimization of their Epic system. Greg assists with EHR system strategies for Epic Connect initiatives and Merger & Acquisitions of EHR solutions. Additionally, Greg manages our team of experienced Epic Consultants.
Greg’s motto is: there is always a way to do something better, we just need to figure it out. Greg has just celebrated his 15th anniversary with his wife Alaina.
Vice President, Recruiting and Consulting Delivery
With over 20 years of immersive experience in the healthcare information technology industry, Tracey specializes in Talent Acquisition and Resource Management. Her extensive experience working with the staffing needs of academic hospitals, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), community hospitals, and physician group practices, enables her to effectively lead medSR's Recruiting/OnDemand Staffing, Professional Services, and Activation teams. Tracey leads by example and client satisfaction is her top priority for all services provided. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Administration from Temple University. Tracey resides in coastal Massachusetts with her husband where they enjoy an active lifestyle, especially when their grown children come to visit.
Vice President, Revenue Cycle Operations
Beth possesses over 30 years of revenue-cycle oriented Healthcare IT and Operational experience. She is passionate about improving the users’ experience with task reallocation and technology enablers. Beth earned her MBA with a concentration in project management and is PMP certified. She holds the position of Vice President of Revenue Cycle Operations and is responsible for identifying and implementing the right managed services and automation to assist our clients in becoming more efficient, reducing revenue cycle billing errors, and improving AR days. Working with our partners at CareCloud, Beth is tasked with enhancing our clients’ daily process flow. Prior to joining medSR, Beth held various management roles working in hospitals, physician practices, and as a consultant where she worked with technology and operations to find innovative solutions that smooth patient flow and experiences. When not working, Beth enjoys quiet evenings at home and the chance to give back.
Vice President, Strategic Services
With more than 25 years of experience in Health Information Technology, Sonya Avery serves as Sr. Vice President of Strategic Advisory Services with medSR to develop our services offerings. Sonya has broad experience in health information systems and has demonstrated expertise in project management, overall IT department management, IT-related regulatory compliance, integration services, health information exchanges, and staff and leadership development.
Sonya’s industry experience also includes hands-on disaster recovery and incident management when one of the facilities she served took a direct hit from Hurricane Katrina.
Recipient of Computer World Magazine's Top 100 Premier IT Leaders in 2013, Ms. Avery has also served as a mentor to up and coming Information Technology leaders throughout the U.S. Outside of work Sonya enjoys playing the piano, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Sonya and her husband share a love of classic cars and their four dogs, Molly, Bit, Lettie, and Moxie.
Director, Activation Services
Nicole knows it’s all about the details when planning and executing a successful Go-Live. In her role as Director of Operations for medSR, she utilizes her 25+ years of sales, operations, and project management experience to lead medSR’s Activation team. Whether it be a small-phased Go-Live or a huge Big Bang activation, Nicole and her team have the skills and expertise to develop and implement a turnkey operation that flexes easily with any sized project. When Nicole is not running a project, she can be seen outside in her garden, hiking along Ohio’s Hocking Hills, or biking on her Peloton. She also enjoys spending quality time with her family and especially her two grandsons.
Chief Executive Officer
Jerry Howell is our founder and CEO and has over 30 years of Healthcare Information Technology experience. Jerry has held a variety of executive management roles in service delivery, sales, and operations. His consulting experience includes a strong background in large scale program and project management, IT planning, vendor software selection/implementation, and IT/Business Transformation.
Strengthening his position in the market, Jerry merged MedMatica with Santa Rosa Staffing in 2021 and is the founder and CEO of medSR. Jerry has spent over twenty years as a Vice President and Partner for the industry’s leading healthcare consultancies, including KPMG, CSC, and First Consulting Group. Early in his career, Jerry worked with the Information Services Division within the NY State Health Department (Medicaid) and as a Consultant/Senior Manager with Price Waterhouse.
Chief Revenue Officer
Pete has over 45 years of IT experience working in the private, corporate, and healthcare sectors with 12 years of experience in the healthcare industry. He holds over 15 years of sales experience in healthcare and has longstanding success in client relationship management. Pete is also proficient in operations and process workflow and possesses strong industry knowledge in IT outsourcing, especially in the healthcare sector.
Vice President, Revenue Cycle Practice Director
Bruce has over 30 years of experience in Revenue Cycle Management, including 16 years at KPMG where he was a Partner, leading the Revenue Cycle Practice for the Northeast. He is currently our Vice President and Revenue Cycle Practice Leader at medSR. Having experience both on the provider side and as a consultant, Bruce brings a real-world perspective when it comes to operations improvement. Bruce is a proud Buckeye, raised in Columbus, Ohio and attended the Ohio State University, receiving a BA in Social and Behavioral Science. Bruce received his MBA with a focus on Finance from Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY. Bruce sits on the board for one of a few not-for-profit funeral homes in the United States and lives in Northern NJ with his wife of 37 years. They have two children and four grandchildren.
